LinguaBoost, an Activated Human product
Last updated: September 16, 2026
A photo you capture is read for words and then discarded. We do not store it.
We never sell your personal data and never build advertising audiences from it.
We do not use your words or your photos to train AI models.
Delete your account from inside the app and your data goes with it.
LinguaBoost is a language-learning app operated by Activated Human LLC, a New Jersey limited liability company. It runs on the web at language.activatedhuman.earth and as an app on iOS and Android. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, who else sees it, and what you can do about it.
It covers the whole product, including the demo you can use before you have an account. Activated Human publishes a family policy for its other products; this one governs LinguaBoost.
Privacy questions go to [email protected].
The front page is a working demo. You can type a phrase, get it translated, hear it spoken, and try one photo, all without signing in. That path still sends data out of your browser, so here is exactly what moves.
We do not create an account or a profile for you when you use the demo. The word pairs you build sit in your browser tab and disappear when you close it, unless you create an account and choose to keep them.
The demo spends real money on every request, so it is metered. We count requests against a one-way hash of your IP address and against a random id your browser generates for the session. We do not store your raw IP address in those counters, and they expire within 24 hours.
If you arrive from an ad or a shared link, the campaign parameters on that link (such as utm_source, gclid, or fbclid) are held in your browser tab so we can tell which channels bring people in. Nothing is sent to us unless you create an account, at which point they are recorded once against your account. Close the tab without signing up and they are gone.
The words you save are not shared with other learners. Autocomplete suggestions come from published word-frequency lists we ship with the app, not from anything anyone has saved. Until 12 August 2026 a saved word was also written into a shared suggestion index; that stopped, and the words already there carry no name, account, or pairing that could identify who added them.
Our App Privacy labels declare email address, name, photos or videos, other user content, user ID, purchase history, and product interaction as linked to your identity, plus crash data and performance data that are not. Nothing is declared for tracking, because we do none. This policy is written to match that filing.
Nothing in the iOS, Android, or web app tells Sentry who you are, so a crash report from the app carries no account identifier. Our servers are the exception in one narrow case: when a sign-in token is rejected, the error report records which account the rejected token claimed, so we can tell a broken login apart from an attack.
Capture is the feature that reads a menu, a sign, or a page and hands back words worth learning. It is available on the free tier and on Pro, and it works on the demo without an account.
A captured image is decoded, resized, and sent to Anthropic (Claude) for the single request that extracts vocabulary from it. It is never written to our object storage and never saved against your account. What is saved is the text that came back: the suggested words and the assistant's reply, which live in your capture history until you delete them.
Anthropic receives the image to answer that one request. Under the API terms we use, it is not used to train Anthropic's models.
If this ever changes, this section changes with it and the date at the top moves.
Where the law requires a legal basis, we rely on performing our contract with you for the first three, our legitimate interest in a working and honest product for the rest, and your consent where consent is what applies (analytics cookies in Europe, and push notifications).
These companies process data on our behalf, under contract, for the purpose listed and nothing else.
| Provider | What it does | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Auth0 (Okta) | Sign-in and account security | Your email address and sign-in activity |
| Google Cloud Translation | Translating words and phrases | The text being translated |
| ElevenLabs | Generating pronunciation audio | The text being spoken |
| Anthropic (Claude) | Reading Capture photos and text into vocabulary | The image or text you submitted |
| Apple, Google Play, Stripe | Taking payment and managing subscriptions | Your purchase, handled under their own terms |
| Apple, Google | Delivering push notifications | Your device token and the notification |
| PostHog | Product analytics | Usage events and your email address on your profile |
| Sentry | Crash and error diagnostics | Error reports, as described in section 3 |
| Klaviyo | Account and lifecycle email | Your email address and the events that trigger a message, such as signing up or starting a subscription |
| Expo (EAS Update) | Delivering app updates to iOS and Android | Your device's update check, which carries its IP address and app version |
Search, analytics storage, the database, and file storage run on infrastructure we operate ourselves, so your words are not handed to a third party to be indexed or stored.
We may also disclose data when the law requires it, and if Activated Human is ever sold or merged, your data would move with the product under this policy until you are told otherwise.
We use one analytics tool, PostHog, and one error tracker, Sentry. Every browser is in one of two modes.
Essential storage is separate from all of this. Your sign-in session, your language choice, and the words you build in the demo are kept by the app because it cannot work without them.
In full-capture mode, PostHog may record a session replay on the website: the pages, clicks, and scrolling that make up a visit, so we can see where the product confuses people. Replay is off entirely in cookieless mode. The iOS and Android apps carry no analytics SDK at all, so nothing there is recorded or replayed.
You can put this browser into cookieless mode whether or not you were ever shown a banner. It clears the analytics identifier and cookies already set on this site and stops any further profile from being built.
The choice is stored per browser and per device. Clearing your browser storage resets it, and visitors in a consent region are asked again.
We keep your account and your learning content for as long as your account exists, because that content is the product. Analytics events and error reports age out on our providers' retention schedules, which run to a small number of months rather than indefinitely.
Open Account in the app and choose Delete account. You confirm twice, and then, in this order: any subscription we bill directly is cancelled, your words, folders, capture history, devices, and settings are purged, your account row is removed, and your sign-in identity is deleted from Auth0.
One thing survives that, and we would rather say so than let you discover it. Records we must keep for tax, accounting, or fraud prevention are retained for as long as the law requires. Your records at our analytics and email providers are removed on request; email [email protected] and we will do it.
Wherever you live, we will honor these. Some of them are a legal right only in certain places; we do not think that is a good reason to offer them only in certain places.
Email [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days. We will not charge you or degrade the product for exercising any of this.
If you are in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, GDPR rights apply and Activated Human LLC is the controller. If you are in California, the CCPA and CPRA apply: we have not sold or shared personal information in the past 12 months, and we do not process it for targeted advertising.
Traffic is encrypted in transit. Access to production data is limited to the people who operate the service, credentials live in a secret store rather than in code, and databases are backed up off-site on a schedule. Payment card details never touch our servers.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your data, we will tell you and the relevant authority as quickly as the facts allow.
LinguaBoost is not directed to children under 13, or under the minimum age of digital consent where you live if that age is higher. We do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has given us information, write to [email protected] and we will delete it.
Our servers and most of our providers are in the United States, so using LinguaBoost from elsewhere means your data is processed there. For transfers out of the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses with each provider, and on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where a provider is certified under it.
We update this page when the product changes. The date at the top moves every time, and a material change gets a notice in the app or an email before it takes effect.
