These Terms are a contract between you and Activated Human LLC, a New Jersey limited liability company that operates LinguaBoost (the "Service"). They apply the moment you use the Service, including the demo on the front page, and they keep applying for as long as you have an account.
If you do not agree with them, do not use the Service. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data and is part of this agreement.
You need to be old enough to enter a binding contract where you live, and at least 13, or older where your country sets a higher age for digital consent. LinguaBoost is not built for children, and we do not knowingly serve them.
If you are using LinguaBoost for an employer, you are confirming you have the authority to accept these Terms on its behalf.
LinguaBoost builds bilingual word pairs and drills them. You add words by typing them, pasting them, or photographing something in the world; the app translates them, generates pronunciation audio, and schedules reviews so the words come back before you forget them.
The front page is a working demo you can use without an account. It is limited on purpose and metered against abuse, and the words you build there live in your browser until you create an account and choose to keep them.
Some features depend on outside providers for translation, speech, and vision. When one of them is down, the feature that depends on it is down.
Sign-in runs through Auth0. Keep your credentials to yourself, use accurate information, and tell us at [email protected] if you think someone else is in your account. You are responsible for what happens under it.
One account is one person. Sharing a paid account with other people is not allowed.
The free tier includes one language pair, a fixed number of words in active study at any one time, and a metered number of photo captures that refills daily and monthly. Capture is not a paid-only feature: a free account gets a real allowance of it, and finishing onboarding adds a one-time bonus on top. The app shows your current allowance and what is left of it.
Pro removes those limits: study as many language pairs as you like, keep any number of words active, and use Capture without a meter.
These allowances are product settings, not promises carved into this page. We may change them, and if a change reduces what a paid subscription includes we will tell you before it takes effect.
If Pro ends, nothing is deleted. Words past the free limit move into a waiting queue instead of the study rotation, and they come straight back when you resubscribe or free a slot by learning or removing something else.
When you get LinguaBoost from the Apple App Store, these Terms are between you and Activated Human LLC alone. Apple is not a party to them.
Purchases through Google Play are subject to the Google Play terms in the same way.
Capture reads a photo or a block of text and suggests words worth learning from it. Only send us images you have the right to send. A menu, a street sign, a page of a book you own, or a label on a jar is what this is for.
Do not use Capture on other people's private documents, on identity documents, or on anything containing someone else's personal information. Do not point it at content you are not allowed to copy.
We do not store the photo. It is read for the one request that extracts vocabulary and then it is gone; the suggested words and the reply are what stay in your capture history. Section 4 of the Privacy Policy covers this in full.
Translations, pronunciations, phonetic hints, and capture suggestions are produced by automated systems, including AI models run by our providers. They are good enough to learn from and they are wrong sometimes.
Do not rely on them for professional, legal, medical, financial, or safety-critical purposes. Check anything that matters with a qualified human.
Do not use the Service to break the law or someone else's rights. In particular, do not:
The demo is metered per visitor. Working around those limits with proxies, scripts, or automated clients is a breach of these Terms.
The words, translations, folders, and notes you create stay yours. You give us the permission we need to run the Service for you: to store your content, send it to our translation, speech, and vision providers when a feature you started requires it, and show it back to you across your devices. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account.
The words you save are yours and are not shared with other learners. Autocomplete draws on published word-frequency lists we ship with the app, not on anything you or anyone else has saved.
You are responsible for what you submit, and for having the right to submit it. We may remove content that breaks these Terms.
LinguaBoost, including its software, design, wordlists, and branding, belongs to Activated Human LLC and is protected by intellectual-property law. These Terms let you use the Service as it is intended. They do not give you rights in our software or our marks.
If you send us feedback, we can use it to improve the product without owing you anything for it.
We aim to keep LinguaBoost running and we do not promise it never goes down. Features get added, changed, and sometimes removed. If we retire something a paid subscription includes, we will tell you first.
You can stop using LinguaBoost at any time and delete your account in the app, under Account. Deletion is permanent and immediate.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these Terms, that puts the Service or its users at risk, or where the law requires it. Where the situation allows for it, we will warn you first and give you a chance to fix it. If we close your account without cause while you are paid up, we will refund the unused part of your term where we billed you directly.
Sections 11, 12, 15, 16, and 17 survive the end of this agreement.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law permits. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that its translations and suggestions will be accurate or fit for any particular purpose.
Some places do not allow these exclusions. Where that is true, this section applies only as far as the law allows, and your statutory consumer rights are untouched.
To the maximum extent the law permits, Activated Human LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or lost opportunities arising from the Service.
Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or twenty-five US dollars. Nothing here limits liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else the law says cannot be limited.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey and the United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Where you live in a place whose consumer-protection law gives you stronger rights, that law wins over this section.
Before filing anything, write to [email protected]. Most problems are faster to solve that way than in a courtroom. If that fails, the state and federal courts located in New Jersey have jurisdiction, and consumers in the EEA and the UK keep the right to bring a claim in their own local courts.
We update these Terms as the product changes. The date at the top moves each time. For a material change we will give notice in the app or by email before it takes effect, and continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the new version. If you do not accept it, delete your account.
